Why you don’t fully trust your team

If you are running a business, you must have asked yourself at least once why you don’t fully trust your team.

There is no such thing as a self-made millionaire.

In all my years spent in the company of countless other highly successful entrepreneurs or helping 6-figure entrepreneurs to grow and earn so much more, it has never happened without a team in place. A trusted team.

In fact, I believe that if you don’t trust your team, it’s impossible to sustainably grow. There’s no way around it: you need help to have a self-managing business. The right help.

When you trust your team, you get the ability to let go. At first, little by little, then, almost completely, so you can focus on more important activities.

Problem is, most women in business are not taught how to do this, and so they end up inadequately supported in their business.

Through no fault of your own, you might as a business owner use a faulty hiring process, which leads you not to trust your team – and that leads to an inability to let go.

They may either not have ENOUGH support, or the WRONG support, which means that they are stuck being the bottleneck in their business…nothing gets “published” without them having a hand in it first, despite not wanting to do it.

They are then forced to micromanage people (ugh), which means they can’t focus their time on working ON the business and exponential growth.

This leads to underwhelming earnings and lower than wished for profits. So much opportunity cost (and time) wasted.

And long days, evenings and fewer vacations than they want to take.

No longer accept having a less-than-ideal team. 

Learn to be more strategic in your hires. 

Get more (part time) help from people who can implement your big ideas. 

Learn (once and for all) how to delegate more effectively so you get the best out of your team.

Be released from stuff you shouldn’t be doing. 

Do less, so you can think more. 

Only focus on exponential growth activities and get help with the rest.
Earn more, working less.

You need a new plan if you want to have more and better support. You need to be focused on your unique brilliance: big ideas, the vision of your business, and scaling to 6 or 7 figures in revenue so you can get your life back. You need to trust your team.

When you have the right team in place, you are released from the day-to-day so you can spend your precious time on what really matters – and you have a truly leveraged, self-managing business, as I teach in our signature program.

The only way to have all of this become a reality is to trust your team so you stop putting out fires yourself, stop playing whack-a-mole and stop doing things you aren’t meant to be dealing with: administrative tasks, customer service, accounting, or executing every detail of the marketing strategy.


Start by asking yourself which roles you need to fill . If you’re anything like me, you tend to generate ideas and need to trust your team to help executing them (as well as help with running the business).


What got me to my first 7-figure year 15 years ago was to hire as many people as I could who were wired to implement and finish things I started, because my strengths lie in other areas.

You can do this too.

Use a hiring process that strategically places the right person in the right position, as opposed to “I like you, you’re hired.” This is done by using assessments, as we teach in our signature program.

Your hiring process should have people understand your culture up front (from the very first job description to your onboarding process) and make the right person desperately want to work with you and alongside you, for years to come.

When you build a team this way, you can begin to trust your team to follow systems (they can even build the systems) which means that you can release the white-knuckling control and let go of the day to day operations of your business, knowing things will run smoothly (and your business will grow) without you being involved in its every aspect. This gives you back your freedom and precious time to do the things that will grow your business exponentially, while working much less.

This is also what allows you to spend more time with the ones you love and feel more free.
