Time is your greatest currency in business. Are you making the most of it?

Time is your greatest currency and should be prized above all else, but we often take it for granted. We squander time. We let people take it from us. We let people hijack it.

You may say you don’t have enough time, but that’s not entirely true. It’s about HOW you use it. Today, I would like to help you reevaluate how you use your time and begin to make changes in your day in your business, so that you use the limited time you have each day in a drastically different way.

This will help you gain back a surprising number of hours each day, week, month and year…hours which you can now use for visioning, strategizing, and really scaling your business, so you can also gain back precious time with the people that you love.

What you need is the space in your day to implement the game-changing, long-term tasks that right now, you’re too busy to do.

Now I bet there’s a part of you that says, “Oh, I wish I could do that thing. I just don’t have the time.” Whether it’s your operations manual or mapping out intricate systems so you aren’t required in the day-to-day anymore, writing that book, hiring the “mini-me”, creating that course, that Ted talk…whatever it is that’s going to help you really scale your business. Those are the things we want to focus on.

I like to call these Exponential Growth Activities (EGA’s). These are the ones that will take you to multiple six figures, seven figures, multiple seven figures and beyond. The more time you spend on these EGA’s, the more you will grow – not only your revenues and business, but also your downtime.

When you first started your business, it was just getting done what needed to get done, whether it was early morning, evenings or weekends. Grind it out. Rinse and repeat. You were juggling 15 things at the same time (and it’s super impressive), but this is now preventing you from reaching seven figures. It’s just not the way to scale a business.

Time is your most precious commodity – and each minute of how you currently spend your day does not have equal value. It is our greatest currency, because with the time that we have, we can create things that other people only dream about with their businesses.

Not every activity, not every task, not every project that you are working on provides an equal return on investment in your business.

Some activities, tasks and projects have a much bigger yield. There are some things that you do that make you, say $15 an hour, or that you could pay somebody $15 an hour to do for you. Perhaps it’s a product you offer that generates a hundred or more per hour. Of course we like the money, but there are other things that you might be missing out on, where you could give time to tasks that lead you to that million dollar mark.

Exponential Growth Activities (EGA’s, the tasks that only you can truly do, that are leading you to seven figures) are the things you should be working on. These are the long-term, big vision exponential business development activities. Hiring your general manager, creating a new revenue stream, working on that new program that will help you work with 10x the clients.

The EGA’s are the lower gratification projects that will take more time, that will require your expertise to accomplish. The things that remove you from the day-to-day operations of your business, so that you can then continue to grow.

There are probably many things that you’re probably still doing in your business that you could easily pay someone an easily affordable rate to do for you. These are the Non-Exponential Growth Activities or NEGA’s. These are the things you can start delegating and paying someone to do.

Assess where your time is going

Time to pull out your journal and think about a typical week – let’s start with last week.

=> How did you use your time? Make a list of all of the tasks that you worked on (or currently work on in an average week).

=> Next to each item, ask yourself if you are TRULY the only one in the world who can do this, or whether it could be delegated to someone else.

If you are not sure, you know what you did last week, you can go back, look at your schedule.

It should become apparent to you how much you will be able to save when you spend your time doing EGA’s instead of all of these other tasks. Write down your insights.
