A pivotal moment in my business came when I finally learned the skills of effective delegation. Most of us were never taught this, and yet it’s a game-changer that shapes the entire trajectory of your business.
Is there a part of you that feels you could be doing better (or just more) in delegating to your team? Then I think you will like the video below:
Sadly when I got started in my business and hired my first virtual assistant, I made ALL the mistakes. It got to a point where I actually took the work back because I was so displeased with what I got back, and I was overwhelmed all over again.
Over a few years, I applied different approaches to my delegation style, which helped me not only transform my leadership style but also multiply my business.
Maybe something below will resonate with you if you’re aiming to amplify your impact on your business. Let’s break it down:
- Drive-by Delegation: Have you ever felt like you’re tossing tasks at your team only to get back results that aren’t quite what you envisioned? I’ve been there too. Effective delegation is all about arming your team with the right tools to succeed in getting you what you intended: crystal-clear expectations, real examples to follow, realistic timelines (rather than ASAP!), and being available for continual guidance.
- Empower Your Team: Recognize that your team members think differently than you do. They’re not ‘wired’ the same way you are and they can’t actually read your mind; they thrive with clarity, examples, compassion, coaching, and reasonable deadlines (and after a while, they’ll be able to do it all without checking in with you). Shifting your energy from being their ‘boss’ to being their ‘coach’ can yield extraordinary outcomes. That’s when you can eventually let go and know that it will be done to your exact specifications, without having to handhold.
- Results, Less Time: When you invest just five minutes a day to guide and support your team member who is working on a project that will produce something that grows your business, and you watch how this small effort can lead to remarkable results in a shorter span, it is really worth it, not just in the short term but in the long term.
These are some things that helped ME go from feeling overwhelmed with too much on my plate, to feeling like I have people around me who know exactly what to do, how I would do it, and who enjoy doing it that way.
Listen, it takes a village to grow your business to 7-figures and beyond. The way you’ve been delegating up until now is what got you ‘here’. To build a small army of people who are excited to work alongside you to create epic things together will likely mean you have to change your style of delegation.
And you know what? It’s fun when you know what you’re doing and you’ve got cool people around you doing it with you.
I hope you love this idea and that you implement these strategies to experience exponential growth and ease in your business.
I’m always here for you,
