Differentiating your business by being your full self

Differentiating your business from your colleagues or competitors is one of the ways that you grow your business exponentially. 

Here’s what I mean. Instead of trying to outshine your competitors in a race to the top, differentiation is about becoming so different that when people see you, they don’t have to ask what the difference is or why they should choose you – they just know that they want to work with you and stay with you for years.

Differentiating your business by being authentically you

Now, how do you differentiate? It’s simpler than you might think. 

You might be able to differentiate based on what you offer and how you offer it, but what if I told you that the most powerful form of differentiation comes from within – from infusing your business with the essence of your authentic self and passion?

Let me give you some examples. 

Maybe you’re someone who comes alive when you dance. Is there any way that you could incorporate dance into your business or marketing? I know it might sound silly or unconventional,  but these unexpected touches that make you memorable and irresistible to your audience, giving you something that they really want to be a part of – something that could really differentiate you.

  • Are you someone who’s deeply authentic? Let your authenticity shine through in every interaction with your clients and customers.
  • Are you somebody who’s funny and you make everybody around you laugh in your personal life? What if you were to be more funny in your marketing, more funny in dealing with your clients and customers?
  • Are you passionate about cooking? Find creative ways to weave this passion into your business, like cooking workshops or cooking videos.
  • Do you love to travel? What if you had an aspect in your business where you could bring your clients to travel with you?
